The Shredding Process

What happens to my paper after it’s shredded?

After we’ve securely shredded your documents to confetti-sized pieces (using BS15713 standard cross-cut shredding), everything gets recycled responsibly. Your shredded paper becomes tissue products and high-grade recycled paper—so you’re protecting your data and the environment.

How can I be sure my information is completely destroyed?

Great question! Here’s how we guarantee it:
Cross-cut shredding – Documents are destroyed into tiny confetti-sized pieces that can’t be reconstructed
Certificate of Destruction – You receive one after every service confirming the exact date and materials destroyed
Witness the process – You’re welcome to watch your documents being shredded
ISO 9001 & BS15713 certified – We meet the highest industry standards

Do I need to remove staples, paper clips, or sort documents?

Nope! Just toss everything into our secure locked containers. Our shredders handle staples, paper clips, binder clips—the lot. You’ve got better things to do with your time.

How is my confidential material kept safe before shredding?

From the moment you put documents in our locked containers, they enter our Accountability Chain. Our CRB-checked, security-vetted team collects them, transports them in our CCTV-protected vehicles, and shreds them at our secure facility. Your information is protected every step of the way.

Hard Drives & Electronic Media

How do I properly dispose of hard drives?

We offer physical hard drive destruction ensuring your electronic data is permanently destroyed. Our process uses a hard drive punch that physically punches a hole straight through the platters, obliterating the stored data.

Why do I need to securely destroy hard drives?

Even if you’ve erased, reformatted, or wiped a hard drive, data can still be retrieved if the drive is physically intact. Our destruction service ensures your sensitive information can never be recovered—keeping you and your clients protected.

Can hard drives be recycled?

Yes – after our destruction service is applied the scrap items are sent for recycling.

Compliance & Environment

How does iData Destruction help with GDPR compliance?

We make compliance easy! Our services are fully GDPR compliant, and we provide:
Certificates of Destruction – Proof of secure disposal for your records
ISO 9001 accreditation – Meeting the highest compliance standards
Accountability Chain – Complete audit trail from collection to destruction
Expert guidance – George can help you understand your compliance requirements

Whether you’re a solicitor managing client confidentiality or an SME navigating data protection laws, we’ve got you covered.

How do you help protect the environment?

We recycle 100% of the paper we shred! Every year, we provide clients with a Certificate of Environmental Accomplishment showing how many trees they’ve saved by using our services. It’s good for your security and the planet.

Why Choose iData Destruction?

We have an office shredder—why would we outsource?

Here’s the thing about office shredders:
> They waste valuable time – Your staff could be doing more important work
> They’re not reliable – They have a tend to jam and over-heat – even with small quantities
> They’re costly – When you factor in staff time, maintenance, and security risks

We do the job in minutes with professional cross-cut technology that meets BS15713 standards—and you get a Certificate of Destruction for compliance.

We store our records—why do we need shredding?

Storage fees add up, and keeping documents longer than necessary can actually put you at risk of non-compliance. Once your retention period is up, secure destruction is the smart move—and it frees up space and saves you money.
